 If you die in an accident and God offer you an opportunity for another life, how would you like to live? 

　　    If you are troubled inside the belly of a whale and cannot see the daylight for the whole day, what would you do? 

　　   If you tried to escape the fish belly and failed repeatedly, what should you do?

  In the first half part of the story, Xi was always over cautiously living in his own narrow space, he dare not express his love; even when he criticized the father of Mi for being a playboy which reflects his love for Mi, he dare not face it; when Mi was chatting with her boyfriend, he escaped all in a sudden, he thought he was excessive; when a robber raped the woman he loved most, he held his head, rolling up on the ground, trembling for fear. With the regard to all those reality, he dare not resist, he compromised without a bottom line, he involved himself into a position of which he could not control at all for which it was too late for him to regret. At last, he was shot to death by the robber from ass hole to the explosion of head. When he was dying, he did not even speak out a word for abreaction.  

 In heaven, he met God with a weird and funny appearance. God gave him another chance to live. This time, he got rid of apprehension and followed his mind, he was courageous, persistent, free and easy. He ran desperately. He would try instead of giving up whenever there was an opportunity for a day. In the escape from the rampant pursuers, he seemed to be monomania, yet he was full of vitality for which he released his heart. 

　　　 When they were noticed that they were going to spend the rest of their life in the belly of a whale, they began to be depressed, distressed and desperate, they recalled with nostalgia and craved for the good time they had, but they forgot, “ when we lose, we must gain.” In the fish belly, a grandpa who had been living for 30 years happily told them what they possessed now. Gradually, the three people finally agreed to lower their heads and looked at what they possessed now. That large amount of time is free for them to arrange for their life. The grandpa likes cooking, Xi continued to work on his comics, Mi practiced swimming everyday, the elder sister of Mi was working on her creative design. In fact, when God close a door, he will open a window for us. While all of these joy and anger are decided by you. If you were immersed by the depression for your loss, it is better for you to discover the happiness you have already possessed and create happiness for yourself. 

The Triplets of Belleville

  In the beginning, an incomplete environment was created: a boy whose parents were dead, he had autism, and his grandma with whom he depends on each other for survival had leg length discrepancy. His dog was a deserted infant. The world was a world that is not suitable for children. In the beginning, I feel uncomfortable; I am not quite in favor of the characters in the age of silent film, the dog with the name of Bruno was as fat as a calf, and the color which was throughout the whole film was sad for which it is far from the average fairy tale. 

It seems that it is a story about the growth of a bike rider; it is much like most of the animations of determination when the granny trained Chapin for riding bike regardless of the weather. 

  When Chapin and other riders for the tour in France were kidnapped by the mafias for the underground gambling, it slowly becomes different. 

The short granny was determined to bring the dog to a boat for the pursuit of a huge ship in the big wind and tides for the salvation of her grandson. The scene is extremely bleak and magnificent. The lonely boat in the sea follows behind the huge ship, it is determined for the struggle against the huge wind and tidal wave since the lovable grandson is on that ship. What is moving and heartbreaking is that the heart for the protection of one person is so determined and at any price. 

  The things which appear in the movies, the lofty ships, the bikes, the trio at the beautiful capital, all of these spreads out the unique phenomena. 

It states the sentimental travel of the protagonist, what “THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE” wants to express is the sentimentality of the forgotten matters; Chapin was kidnapped by the Mafia for the job as a racer for the underground bicycle race, with the regard to the trio at the beautiful capital, no matter if it is for the throw of hand grenade to the frog or the vacuum cleaner, refrigerator or newspaper as musical instrument, they were all happy. The singing was still happy and joyful, I remember someone said that “tell the imperfect world to the children”. 

After the end of the film, it is not until we see the words – “To my parents” that we realize what the true idea of this film is, parents expect for the success of children, but they will not give up the unsuccessful and even depraved children, they will contribute more with no reserve for their attitude and protection. 

No matter if it is for the sentimentality or sadness, no matter if it is for the warmth or loneliness, our growth cannot be suppressed, after all the obstacles, we will be protected in final.

If you want to make others feel a sense of relief, you need to depict a nervous and suffocating scene. If you want to make others sad and desperate, you need to depict a very beautiful scene. 

So it is for this animation. In the previous 30 minutes, it tries its best to present war which makes the people at the back side starve and hard to survive, but it also presents the gloriousness of life by the depiction of a family with optimistic view towards life in the hard time. However, when the viewers have established a 100% good feeling for those optimistic and strong willed people and wish they could happily live on; the director arranged the launch of that lethal atomic bomb. 

The helplessness and desperation for the death of a family before the eyes is hurtful for the viewers. However, this animation conceals the strong emotion in the soft narration, the excessively direct propaganda will make people bored, the family and home of the author were destructed by the explosion of the nuclear bomb, he must be resentful to the atomic bomb. However, the author did not present this idea directly to the viewers; instead, he just depicted the normal life, the true history for the viewers to seek for the answer from the destruction of normal life. 

The most impressive dialogue in the last section. 

“Dad, when can we be full for food?” 

“After the end of the war.” 

“When will the war be ended?” 

“The war should already be ended, Japan failed already.” 

“Then why are we still fighting?”

“Because our government is sick.”

However, for human beings, the whole society is also the environment, it may be more important than the environment of nature. The complexity of society and culture makes the standard required by human beings higher and more complicated. Therefore, sometimes we are not as happy as animals such as cats and dogs. What is pathetic is nothing but our civilization which creates so many gaps for our desire; it seems that we will never be able to fill the gaps. What is happiness? To us, it may be a car, a house, a wife, a good child or a decent job, to be respectful, to occupy rare resources, to do something others cannot do, or all of the above stated. While for the other organisms, such as cats and dogs, it will be much easier: the delicious food for the three meals every day, a master who cares about it, the opposite sex at the opposite door. Many times we sign with emotion for the innocence of children, and then we will doubt ourselves for what we really need, actually it is totally not necessary. When you put down the complicated desires in your heart and return the target of your pursuit to the status of desire before it is disturbed by all the matters and objects you hear and see, you can also experience the innocence and happiness you lost. 

There are two methods for one to obtain happiness: work hard for the target you have determined for yourself and achieve it, or lower your target. The latter one sounds incredible, but it is a fact and more practical. Civilization has brought us too many desires, when you achieve one after all the hardship, another one appears, and there is no end. If you can see the deepest craves in your heart and work hard with the focus on them, you will find that it is not that hard for you to achieve it. What needs to be known is that the easy happiness of small children and small animals is originated from their simple desire. Russell once said: “what I need is actually the sufficient amount of sunlight, fresh air, quiet environment, delicious food and a gentle woman with good intention.”

So it is for the paramecium in the laboratory; in the late Devonian, fishes which climbed up to the bank were also like it; when the Tsunami happened, forest men under the leadership of blue coated men were also like it; it was just that the subject of evolution was no longer gene, but another important element of evolution in the society of living things besides genes – meme, that is the unit for the commonly known “culture”. With the regard to the detailed discussion on this aspect, you may watch “The Meme Machine” by Susan Blackmore, the author is a student of Richard Dawkins whom I mentioned in “one of”. 

It can be imagined that when the forest men first entered the Sea of Corruption, they must be painful and uncomfortable, just like fishes which climbed up to the land for the first time. The Sea of Corruption is full of malaria, a breathe of it will kill them, that’s why they need to wear masks every day; they cannot use fire for which they cannot eat the delicious food of which they are accustomed to, around them are huge and dangerous insects, a careless trigger will make them be besieged. It is very difficult to survive in the encirclement of danger by so many creatures, even if they were under the leadership of the blue-coated men, they must have experienced their own hardship and made a huge sacrifice. Finally, they were accustomed to the environment of the forest, they were familiar with the habits of insects and survived, they felt the tranquility for their heart and the joy for their life which is an unprecedented happiness. 

Then, what is the so-called happiness? Is the paramecium in the shape of pocket in the laboratory happy? Are the fishes which climbed up to the land happy? Numerous people searched for happiness in their whole life and failed at the end; numerous people smashed what they pursue in their hardship for the search of “true happiness”, what is happiness? Wife? House? Car? Is it the stove in winter, or the kitten in your embrace? To be held by your lover is happiness, to eat the borsch made by your mother of which you have not had for a long time is also happiness. Some said that to leisurely bask in the sun near the sea is happiness, that’s what both wealthy and poor people can do, then why do we pursue for other things? 

In fact, happiness is a kind of feeling, happiness is different for different people, and the happiness of the same person at different periods may also be completely different. Therefore, if you have to give a uniform definition for happiness, you just can’t do it. Just like the concept of “beauty”, when you think you have obtained the tranquility and satisfaction for your heart and desire, that is happiness. In other words, when you tell your heart that “I am happy”, then you are happy. 

Every being living in this world, or every kind of species live in a certain environment. Then, organisms also have an expectation for the environment; you may also name it as a request. This kind of request is the irritability to the natural conditions such as temperature, salinity and illumination etc. in the very beginning, the reason is for the replication of DNA and the most suitable condition for the function of various kinds of enzymes. For example, paramecium has the most original salt escaping and phototaxis, various kinds of organisms have their own temperature for survival (death from cold is actually caused by the weakening of activity for the enzymes and the cease of metabolism). When it came to higher animals, the request becomes complicated with the organizations and structures between cells becoming extremely complicated with the mind for the formation of society. however, no matter what the demand of human beings is, it can be considered as the derivations of basic survival instinct after all. There are many writings on this aspect, such as the theory of Floyd. Then, when the requests of the environment and the organism are consistent, for lower form of life, it is adaption; while for the higher organism, such as human beings, it is “happiness”. 

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind（1）

It can be said that the setting of forest men is a bright point in “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”. What on earth can men live like? How deep is our desire? How can we satisfy it? Since the ancient times, these questions have been troubling numerous people in generations. It seems that no one could answer those questions. 

There are 7 times of appearance for forest men, the first appearance was in the deadly chase of Yupa by the Tolmekian, when the spaceship was shot down, the wormhandlers heard the whistling of forest men when they were about to cut off the hands of Yupa who was fainted as the evidence. The wormhandlers were both fearful and respectful to those people who were like ghosts and escaped rapidly for which the group of Yupa was saved. To tell the truth, I though Yupa and his fellows would be captured as food during the first time when I watched this part lol 

Forest men are actually the most excellent clan of bloodline among the first ancestors of wormhandlers, they are the descendants of ancient Avatars. When the Tsunami happened three hundred years ago, they followed the blue coated men and entered the forest. Since then, they gave up the application of fire, they wore the casing of insects, ate eggs of insects and lived in the bubble tent formed by the body liquid of insects… they gave up the life of cities completely and chose to be combined with the Sea of Corruption. To outsiders, the Sea of Corruption is a fearful object, while to the forest men, it is a warm and comfortable home. On the other aspect, the forest also offered them in return, not only did it provide them the clothes, food, accommodation and transportation, it also gifted them the super powers for which they can communicate freely with mental power, their spirit can get rid of their body for travel around the world…they are quite satisfied with their living status. In particular, without the noise of cities and the desert of fire, the emblem of civilization, the calmness, - the tranquility and serene of their inner heart is full of joy and appreciation, it seems like the peaceful lake under the gentle breeze with occasional ripples… in fact, the calmness and satisfaction like this is happiness. 

The experiment for the mixed cultivation of paramecium is very inspiring; in the first time, the experimenter raised the big paramecium and the small paramecium together in a bottle which is over the allowed density for which the large paramecium was dead for the result of competition between species. In the second time, the experimenter raised the large paramecium with another kind of paramecium in the shape of pocket. The same competition between species occurred but there was no extinction for either of the parties. The original lifestyles of both paramecium are camping swimming, however, a week later, the large paramecium continued the life of swimming in the upper half of the bottle, while the paramecium in the shape of pocket turned to the life of benthic camp and stayed at the bottom of the bottle. The two parties, especially the paramecium in the shape of pocket, changed their habit and living environment for which they can continue to survive in the meantime of change for the environment. 

Life itself is flexible; this is the reflection for the greatness of life. Every time the environment changes and the condition for the survival of organisms diminishes, the rest organisms can only do two things: fight each other for the remained resources, the strong one shall survive; or adapt to a new environment, change the habit of living, eating, breeding and even breathing to obtain everything in need for the survival in the new environment. If it is for the previous one, they will compete with the close relatives and gradually, their teeth and claws become sharper and their angles become larger…; for the latter one, they will grow with lung, feet and wing for the survival in the new environment … this is named as – evolution.

In class reading,

1) i feel interesting to read this kind of Batman comic, it is unique because it blur the line between Good guy and Bad guy in DC comic, and also explained the story behind the "Bad guy"-Joker, to make him more like a real person, its kind a new experience to me.
2)The Joker's turnings make me feel connected,  I use to read some books about a normal person that been destroyed by life’s pressure and finally became a "bad guy", and i think it is quiet normal in the real world, people have to do something that can not to be described as "good" to survive.
3)i think i will change it to movie, movie is the strongest medium that i this can show the dramatic of the story, and this comic is a story of a normal person turning to a "Crazy" man; which is quite dramatic. The changes i will make is i might delete Batman's part a little bit, or increased Joker's pass more to let the viewers feel the pain and the desperation that Joker been though to finally turn him to a "Bad man"
